Lignans plus

Lignans are widely distributed in plant material and form a normal part of our everyday diet, but Linseed (Flax) is by far the best known source of Lignans, providing about 100 times more than any other plant material. The primary Lignan found in linseed is SDG (seco-isolariciresinol diglucoside)

Lignans are considered to be phytoestrogens whose nutritional role has become increasingly recognised They are fermented by our normal colonic bacteria (bifidobacteria) to form mammalian estrogens, which are associated with the normal metabolism of sex hormones in both men and women.  This can be particularly useful during the menopause and in the teenage years, as well as nutritionally supporting the health of the cardiovascular system and skeletal system and, in men, the prostrate.

Lignans and essential fatty acids help maintain the integrity of the skin and the normal regeneration of healthy dermal cells. Lignans role in cholesterol management is also well documented.

Lignans provide good nutritonal support for healthy hair folicles.
