Probiotics (friendly bacteria)
The delicate balance of intestinal 'flora' (friendly bacteria) is easily upset. Antibiotics, irritable bowel symdrome, food sensitivities, Candida, poorly cooked food or stomach 'bugs' can all upset the balance. Probiotics are regularly featured in magazine and newspaper articles discussing the importance of a healthy intestinal tract. Research indicates that a healthy 'gut' is a vitally important to being generally healthy. There has been, and continues to be, an enormous amount of research into the benefits of probiotics. As antibiotics are becoming ineffective for some strains of bacteria so the use of probiotics is increasing in the struggle to contain and beat these bacteria. Probiotics replace the 'friendly bacteria' but it's essential that the probiotic is of sufficient strength and maintains its viability in order to adequately replace the friendly bacteria we need in our digestive system.
Acidophilus - Lactobaccillus acidophilus is a type of 'friendly bacteria. It has anti-fungal properties, aids digestion and enhances absorption of nutrients.
Bifidus - Bifidobacterium bifidum helps in the synthesis of B vitamins by creating healthy intestinal flora.
