Sports Injuries Remedial and Deep Tissue Massage
Christine Davies MSMA CTHA VTCT Dip.
About Me: Having grown up in Africa I have always led an active lifestyle and played a lot of sport. In 2003 I decided to turn her keen interest in sports into a profession and completed my training for this in July of that year. I specialise in the treatment and rehabilitation of injuries. I have extensive experience working with runners, cyclists, rowers and triathletes. My initial qualification was with Premier in Sports Massage Therapy (VTCT Dip in Sports Therapy). Since then I have completed courses in taping and strapping, on site massage, pregnancy massage, cranio-sacral therapy and hot stone massage. I am a member of the Sports Massage Association (Level 3) and Sports Therapy Organisation.
Deep Tissue Massage This massage technique treats both occupational and postural injuries in addition to helping athletes improve their performance.
It is an excellent treatment for:
- Lower back pain
- Muscular strains
- Aches and pains
- Repetitive strain and other overuse injuries
The movement of the blood and lymph accelerates the healing process allowing you to get your life back to normal as soon as possible.
It stretches your muscles and tendons in ways not possible with conventional stretching.
Injury Treatment and Rehabilitation The cause and type of injury are determined by carrying out a full postural and lifestyle assessment. To assist in healing the injury, imbalances in muscle tone and postural alignment are identified and then corrected using deep tissue massage and rehabilitation exercises. Stretches and exercises to improve flexibility and range of movement are carried out. It is vital that the cause of the injury is addressed and corrected so that it does not re-occur
Sport & Remedial Massage:
Not just for sports people ... Sport and remedial massage uses the application of deep pressure to manipulate soft tissue.
A sport and remedial massage used in conjunction with rehabilitation exercises focuses on speeding up the healing of existing injuries and preventing the development of future injuries.
Sport and remedial massage is good for releasing muscle tension and restoring balance to the musculoskeletal system. It reduces strain and discomfort caused by stresses at work or home, training or participating in sport, and it encourages the body to heal and repair any injuries sustained.
