Guide to using essential oils & cautions

Suggested Methods of Use

Bath:- Fill your bath with warm water. Add 4 to 6 drops of essential oil, agitate the water to ensure dispersal of the oils and relax in the bath. For sensitive skins dilute the essential oils in a carrier oil before adding to the bath. For children use one 1 drop of essential oil diluted in a carrier oil.

Compress:- Add 4 drops of essential oil to hand hot water and agitate to help dispersal. Dip a cloth into the water, squeeze out excess and apply the cloth to the effected area.

Inhalation: - Add up to 5 drops of Pure Essential Oil to a small basin of hot water, cover your head with a towel, close your eyes and breathe in the vapours. (when using Care for Sinus use only 2 or 3 drops) or put a couple of drops on a handkerchief or your pillow. This method should not be used by people who suffer from Asthma.

Massage: - Essential oils must always be diluted with a vegetable carrier or an unperformed aqueous based cream before being applied to the skin. Mix up to 25 drops of essential oil with 50ml carrier oil or 15 drops of essential oil to 50ml cream. For sensitive skins mix up to 15 drops of essential oil with 250ml carrier oil or 10 drops to 250ml cream. Test patch before general use.

Seek advise from a qualified practitioner before using essential oils as a massage for children, during pregnancy or breast feeding.

Vaporisation:- An essence burner is a wonderful method of creating your own environment. Fill the vessel part of the burner with water and add a few drops of essential oil. Experiment with mixing oils. Sprinkle a few drops on your bathroom rugs, bed linen, pot pourri or a dish of small pebbles

Cautions
Pure essential oils are very concentrated and should be used with care and never undiluted on the skin or taken internally. Before using pure essential oils seek advice from a qualified therapist or information from one of the many books written about their use Avoid contact with eyes. Keep away from children and pets. Do not use essential oils as an alternative to medication or medical treatment or if suffering from Epilepsy; Asthma; High Blood Pressure or any medical condition where the use of essential oils may not be appropriate, without consulting a qualified Practitioner. Do not to use essential oils during pregnancy other than as directed by a qualified Practitioner. Do not use on children without seeking advice from a qualified Practitioner Should any allergic reactions occur discontinue use of the preparations. Store in a cool, dark place .
